Koukoumi Hotel plans to open as Greece’s first all-vegan hotel in the Ano Mera village on the island of Mykonos in this summer, pandemic permitting. Founded with the mission of bringing authenticity, simplicity, and balance to hospitality, the hotel will feature traditional Myconian architecture—marked by a minimalistic style—with suites (with rates starting at approximately $244 per night) outfitted with vegan decor; a spa that offers wellness treatments using vegan and cruelty-free products wrapped in handmade wooden, recyclable packaging; and a fully stocked gym where trainers offer outdoor fitness courses that make the most of the island’s beaches and hills.
“We can enjoy life without harming animals, the environment, or ourselves,” the hotel’s mission statement reads. “A vegan will feel at home here and every one can try out an alternative and peaceful way of being, satisfying at the same time all their senses.”
As for cuisine, Koukoumi boasts a fully vegan restaurant that uses locally sourced ingredients to create minimally processed menu items with a buffet breakfast featuring bread, cake, cookies, sweets, marmalade, and vegan omelets; mid-day meals with dishes such as salads, soups, handmade pasta, burgers, pizza, noodles, and Greek-inspired dishes; and desserts such as chocolate soufflé, cheesecake, snickers bars, waffles, and homemade ice cream. The hotel also offers personalized nutrition programs and serves smoothies, juices, and cocktails at its poolside bar.
